Chief Warrant Officer 5 George Q. Munson

Command Chief Warrant Officer

Chief Warrant Officer 5 George Q. Munson is Command Chief Warrant Officer of the New Hampshire Army National Guard. In this role, he serves on the Adjutant General’s staff as the state’s senior ranking warrant officer and oversees the morale, welfare, training, administration, selection, and management of all warrant officers in New Hampshire. He serves on the Adjutant General’s personal staff as an advisor on all warrant officer issues, policies and initiatives.
 
 
Munson began his career as a UH-1 helicopter pilot with the 1st Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, K-16 Air Base, Seoul South Korea. Following UH-60 qualification training at Fort Rucker Alabama, he served with the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell Kentucky where he deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After leaving active duty in 1994, he joined the 1159th Medical Company, Air Ambulance, New Hampshire National Guard, where he served as pilot, instructor pilot, and eventually as an instrument flight examiner. During this time, Mr. Munson was the Standardization Instructor Pilot during Operation Iraqi Freedom III-V (2004-06). Following fixed wing qualification training, he joined the Operational Support Airlift Activity, Detachment 18 as a C-12 pilot and instructor pilot supporting Operation Enduring Freedom (TF-ODIN) in Afghanistan (2010-11), and later serving as Operations Officer supporting Operation Inherent Resolve based in Kuwait (2014-15). Upon return from this last deployment, he became the State Aviation Standardization Officer and Standardization Instructor Pilot for C Company, 3rd of the 238th General Support Aviation Battalion. He currently serves on the general's staff as the New Hampshire Command Chief Warrant Officer.
