Message to Force During Global Health Threat

By Maj. Gen. David Mikolaities

As members of the New Hampshire National Guard, we take great pride in being always ready and always there in times of need.

What began as a relatively normal work week last Monday ended with both our President and Governor declaring states of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure of schools, municipal facilities and ski resorts are indicators of how seriously our government is taking the global health threat.

It’s important that you follow prescribed protocols issued by state and local health officials to protect yourselves and your families so that we can continue to carry out our missions at home and abroad.

The well-being of our force to include our families is our #1 priority. We are doing everything within our means to ensure our force is protected and sufficiently resourced.

Your Army and Air senior staffs have been in discussions with state and federal officials on an almost daily basis to ensure we have the most up-to-date operating picture. Commanders and supervisors at every level have been communicating that guidance.

Stay informed both here at work and in your communities. Take the necessary precautions and use your chain of command to communicate any changes to your health and the health of your family.

If and when we are called to respond to this health crisis, we will act quickly and safely, and with the confidence that our fellow citizens have come to appreciate.

Sincerely,

Maj. Gen. David Mikolaities
Adjutant General
New Hampshire National Guard
