Message To The Force

By Maj. Gen. David Mikolaities

By now you may be aware of the WMUR news report that two NHARNG officers are under investigation for alleged misconduct.

The allegations are serious and potentially involve multiple victims.

Both officers have been suspended from their current assignments pending the outcome of their respective investigations, which includes those conducted by external organizations.

We are using all of our available resources to protect the integrity of the investigations and ensure due process is carried out.

In the coming days, we anticipate additional media coverage. If you are approached by members of the media or public regarding either of these cases, please refer them to our public affairs office. I would also ask you to refrain from discussing or speculating about the cases, especially on social media. Rumors can have a detrimental effect on the investigations as well as unit morale.

We cannot share details of ongoing investigations until they are resolved, but I want to reiterate that we do not tolerate inappropriate behavior such as sexual harassment or assault in our ranks. It adversely affects unit cohesion and mission readiness. There is no place for this kind of behavior in our organization. We will continue to work hard to prevent it and deliver accountability when appropriate.

We strongly encourage victims to report through their Sexual Assault Prevention and Response channels and to local law enforcement agencies. We will ensure victims have access to the care and assistance they need for as long as necessary.

We are committed to living the Army and Air Force values and serving the citizens of our great state and nation. Thanks for what you do every day. Don't let the alleged actions of a few tarnish the exceptional reputation you have earned through your selfless service.

Sincerely,

Major General David Mikolaities
Adjutant General
New Hampshire National Guard
