157th Air Refueling Wing KC-46 performs at El Salvador air show
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador — A six-person aircrew from the 157th Air Refueling Wing treated thousands of spectators to KC-46 Pegasus flyovers this weekend at the Ilopango Air Show in El Salvador. The aerial passes were in conjunction with a New Hampshire National Guard-El Salvador state partnership visit that included a senior leadership meeting, donation of personal protective equipment, Humvee mechanic exchange and performances by the 39th Army Band.

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador — For the fourth time since 2019, the 39th Army Band returned to El Salvador to perform for thousands of spectators at the Ilopango Air Show in El Salvador on Feb. 17 and 18. The largest, annual aviation and aerobatic exhibition in Latin America has become a highly anticipated venue for the New Hampshire Army National Guard’s traveling company of soldier-musicians. And their popularity among locals has continued to soar.

BOW, N.H. — An exchange program backed by the New Hampshire National Guard continues to evolve between high schools in Bow and Cabo Verde. Guardsmen collected 33 boxes of donated books from the Bow campus Jan. 17--a sizeable gift that could be delivered as early as next month to Pedro Gomes High School in Achada Santo Antonio, Cabo Verde.

PEMBROKE, N.H. — The New Hampshire National Guard held its 387th birthday celebration and annual awards ceremony Dec. 13 at the Edward Cross Training Complex in Pembroke. The youngest and oldest guardsmen in attendance, Airman 1st Class Keegan Werner of the 157th Air Refueling Wing and Col. James Kelly of Joint Force Headquarters, joined NH Adjutant Gen. David Mikolaities for a traditional cake cutting.

The Christmas they deserve
CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire National Guardsmen helped deliver donated Christmas gifts to families in need via vans, military trucks and a Black Hawk helicopter Dec. 12 from the state military reservation in Concord. The charitable endeavor was in partnership with the State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire and Operation Santa Claus, a program in its 63rd season.

Body of Army Staff Sgt. killed in Mediterranean helicopter crash returns to NH
CONCORD, N.H. — An honor guard from the New Hampshire Army National Guard escorted the body of Staff Sgt. Tanner Grone during an honorable transfer Nov. 22, 2023, at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Concord, N.H. Grone, a U.S. Special Operations aviation soldier, died earlier this month during a training exercise in the Mediterranean. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 25, in his hometown of Gorham. The service will be held at the middle high school. It begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public. Grone was 25 years old.

39th Army Band performs Veterans Day concert
CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Army National Guard's 39th Army Band returned to the Chubb Theatre in Concord on Nov. 10 for a memorable Veterans Day concert. They were joined by 35 high school musicians from across the state and guest conductor Jared Staub from Plymouth State University.

Granite State STARBASE program lifts off with NH National Guard
PEMBROKE, N.H. — The New Hampshire National Guard held a ribbon cutting for STARBASE New Hampshire, a Department of Defense education program for fifth graders, Nov. 13 at the Edward Cross Training Complex in Pembroke. Coinciding with the ceremony, students from Dunbarton Elementary School began the inaugural session of STARBASE, which stands for Science and Technology Academies Reinforcing Basic Aviation and Space Exploration.

New partnership enables critical training for New Hampshire Air National Guardsmen
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Beeping machines, quick footsteps, and rolling carts fill the Catholic Medical Center Emergency Department with a chaotic buzz. Among the flow of people and equipment, one airman from the 157th Medical Group kept pace with the nurses and paramedics bustling from room to room. Aerospace medicine technician, Master Sgt. John McDowell, was completing his annual training requirements alongside CMC’s medical personnel in the ED and Intensive Care Unit in Manchester, New Hampshire, Oct. 9-13. The opportunity was part of a new partnership that allows New Hampshire Air National Guard medics to hone their skills with patients in the hospital setting.
