Locked And Loaded

Two squads of NHNG marksmen finished in the top 20 at the 51st Winston P. Wilson Pistol and Rifle Championships from March 26 - 31 at Camp Robinson, Ark. After blazing through thousands of rounds of ammo, Team Alpha placed ninth out of 47 teams, New Hampshire's best finish since 2015. Team Bravo finished 20th.

Called Upon Again

A deployment ceremony for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 197th Field Artillery Brigade and the 1986th Contingency Contracting Team was held at Concord High School on April 2. As the 39th Army Band played a welcoming tune, family and friends filled the gymnasium to participate in the time-honored tradition of a supportive sendoff for the more than 130 New Hampshire Army National Guard soldiers.

Knees In The Breeze

Soldiers, family and friends gathered outside the Hillsborough armory March 5 for the rededication of a granite marker honoring the service of Sgt. Jeremiah Holmes. A truck driver for the 744th Transportation Company, New Hampshire Army National Guard, Holmes died when his vehicle struck an IED in route to Fallujah, Iraq on March 29, 2004.

Thunder Over New Hampshire Earns Gold

The 157th Air Refueling Wing was recognized for hosting an exceptional air show during the recent International Convention of Air Shows, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dec. 9. The Thunder Over New Hampshire Air Show earned gold in the Military Air Shows/Open House Pinnacle Awards category.

Managing Expectations

Living by the motto “Always Ready, Always There” is easier said than done for NH guardsmen trying to balance their military obligation with their civilian job. Over the last three months, more than 250 NH citizen soldiers and airmen have been supporting Operation Winter Surge, the state’s current pandemic relief efforts. They have been working at hospitals, nursing homes, the men's state prison, the state warehouse and the Department of Health and Human Services.
